My Favorite Books

During a recent email conversation regarding favorite books I was compelled to share a list of my favorite books with a friend. How I choose my favorites are based on how much the book impacted my life, i.e., how much do I talk about it, think about it, re-read it, recommend it – how much does it still affect me even years after reading?

Here is the list of some of the books that have left their mark on me; I’m certain this list will expand as I have now embarked on reading a large stack of books for my thesis (Photo Below).

What books have impacted your life?

Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book that Changes Lives – Dan Millman

Tales of Alvin Maker Series – Orson Scott Card (Particularly Seventh Son – the first book of the series)

Ender’s Game Series – Orson Scott Card (Particularly the latter part of the series)

Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah – Richard Bach

Jonathan Livingston Seagull – Richard Bach

The Shack: Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity – Paul Young

The Secret Life of Bees – Sue Monk Kidd

Cold Sassy Tree – Olive Ann Burns

The Notebook – Nicholas Sparks

Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas – James Patterson

Eat, Pray, Love – Elizabeth Gilbert

The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

The Tao te Ching – Lau Tzu

Finding Your Way Home: A Soul Survival Kit – Melody Beattie

The Four Agreements (Series) – Miguel Ruiz

The Autobiography of a Yogi – Paramahansa Yogananda

Radical Forgiveness – Colin Tipping

You Can Heal Your Life – Louise L. Hay

Freedom is a Feather: Words for Change – Gatlianne  (I am not afraid of shameless self-promotion. But it did change impact my life…both in the writing and the reading. All of my books have.)
